Sometimes the voice we use......isn't the voice we have!
I was reminded of this truth as I watched, Melanie Amaro, contestant on the X-Factor. X-Factor is a show that allows contestants to prove their vocal ability, charisma and stage presence to win a recording contract (similar to American Idol, who just crowned Phillip Phillips as the 2012 winner).
One of my favorite singers on the 2011 X-Factor was Melanie Amaro, her vocal tone is truly a gift, but one thing she lacked throughout the competition was an emotional connection to the lyrics and audience.....Until One Night, she blew it out of the park, I was captured/mesmerized by her performance.
It wasn't until the end of her song selection and communication to the judges that drew me in. The vocalist that seemed to lack vulnerability broke and let down her guard.
All in view was surprised when she suddenly spoke in this strong accent derived from the Virgin Islands. As tears streamed down her face, she declared, "This is the REAL Me!
Suddenly this vocalist (whom we thought we knew), unveiled a layer, giving herself permission to be true to herself and her voice.
My lingering thought,
what voice do I have.......
what voice do you have......
that's not being lived out authentically?
Be TRUE to the REAL You!

Very well put, Tiffany. Way too often we try to hide our voice behind what we perceive other people want our voice to be. The ONLY one that matters here... is what does Jesus want to do with our voice!! He gave us our voice and it's perfect just as it is. Don't let it be diluted, changed, or misused!!
